Following the recent case of striker Michael Liguori, who was convicted in the first instance in Teramo, another Calcio Padova player is at the center of an investigation for alleged sexual assault. This is Carmine Cretella, a midfielder for the Biancoscudata team, who has been indicted by the Messina court for incidents dating back to 2020. The news, reported today by Gazzettino, casts a new shadow over the football club.
The investigation into Cretella began in 2022, when the father of a girl, then 14, filed a complaint for alleged sexual assault.

This new case comes at a delicate moment for football Padova, already in the spotlight for the Michael Liguori affair. After Liguori's first-degree conviction, the company issued an official statement declaring that it would not express judgments until the final pronouncement of justice. However, this position has raised quite a few criticisms, especially in the city of Padua.
Mayor Sergio Giordani, former sports director of the team and always close to the white-blue environment, clearly expressed his point of view: “I am on the side of women”, he declared, distancing himself from the club's cautious line. His words reflect the growing discontent of a part of the fans and citizens, who are asking for a firmer and more decisive position from the club.
