Creativity and civic commitment merged in the award ceremony of the contest “Decorate your Christmas tree with the lights of legality”, an initiative promoted by the Joint Initiative Study Center and Confeuro. The event, which involved thousands of students from schools of all levels from all over Italy, was a great success, transforming the Christmas symbol par excellence into a manifesto of values and good practices.
The contest aimed to raise awareness among young people about the fundamental principles of legality, social justice and respect for the rules. Participants were asked to decorate Christmas trees with ornaments, poems and messages inspired by these values. The response was extraordinary: creativity and passion characterized each work, transforming the trees into symbols of hope and civil commitment.
“Legality is the foundation of a healthy and supportive society – they declared Carmela Tiso, national spokesperson for the Common Initiative Study Centre, and Andrea Tiso, president of Confeuro – and seeing young people so enthusiastic in transmitting these values gives us confidence for the future. With this initiative we wanted to combine the traditional Christmas spirit with a concrete commitment to a more just and inclusive world”.
At the ceremony, held in recent days, students from various Italian regions were awarded, including Campania, Lazio, Sicily, Calabria, Puglia, Basilicata and Tuscany. In particular, the work of the institutes of Avellino, Benevento, Napoli and other cities in the region, which have distinguished themselves for the originality and depth of the messages they conveyed.
Among the winners, schools of Rome Isernia, Catania, Agrigento, Matera, Florence, Reggio Calabria and Barletta, testifying to the national scope of the initiative and the enthusiasm it has been able to arouse. The initiative wanted to underline how the values of legality can be the beacon to build a better future, just like the lights that illuminate a Christmas tree.
Educating new generations to respect the rules means offering them concrete tools to face life's challenges in an ethical and responsible way. “Every decoration and every message created by the children represents a seed of hope – the organizers added – demonstrating that young people are ready to become protagonists of change, inspired by the values of legality and solidarity".
