The Cervantes Institute of welcomes the XIV edition of the literary translation course for publishing with an event dedicated to the famous writer Andrés Neuman. The renowned Argentine-Spanish poet and translator will be the focus of the meeting entitled “Translation is another original: dialogue with the writer Andrés Neuman”, scheduled for Wednesday, February 5 at 16.30:XNUMX pm.

Translation as a Personal Experience

Andrés Neuman will discuss with Hispanists Marco Ottaiano and Augusto Guarino the fundamental role of translation in the relationship between authors and translators. Following the thought expressed in his book “Barbarismos”, Neuman will explore the idea that translation is a unique human way of reading and writing simultaneously.

Insight into the figure of Andrés Neuman

Born in 1977 in Buenos Aires and living in Granada, Neuman is an author of recognized importance, winner of the Alfaguara Prize in 2009. With a career studded with international awards, Neuman is one of the most appreciated writers of his generation in the Spanish language. His works, translated into over twenty languages, include renowned titles such as “The traveler of the century”, “La vida en las ventanas” and “Hablar solos”.

Cultural Program of the Instituto Cervantes

The meeting marks the opening of the cultural activities of the of Naples for 2025. Among the initiatives scheduled, the online conference of the scientist Maria Covadonga Astorga Llorens, scheduled for Tuesday, February 11, and the seminar on Rafael Alberti, scheduled for Thursday, February 13.
