A violent episode rocked the outskirts of Turin on New Year's Eve, when a 72-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The trigger appears to be the behavior of the victim's dog, which was barking and disturbing the man.

According to the officers, before attacking the woman, who was already there with a friend, the man complained about the noise coming from the animal. The investigations reveal that in the past there had already been arguments between the elderly man and the couple because of the dog.

After the attack, the woman was immediately rescued and taken to the hospital, where she is currently hospitalized in intensive care with a reserved prognosis. The Turin Prosecutor's Office promptly requested and obtained the validation of the attacker's arrest.

Elderly scam in Turin using fake policeman and expert techniques: 37-year-old Neapolitan man arrested

by Vincenzo Scarpa January 22, 2026 - 13:28 am 13:28

He had presented himself as an official, ready to "verify" jewelry and cash on behalf of the Court. For those events, the police executed a precautionary detention order against a 37-year-old Neapolitan man, arrested in Naples by officers from the San Ferdinando police station on the orders of the Turin investigating judge.

The incident dates back to October 21st, when the couple's husband received a phone call on his landline. On the other end, a self-styled Carabinieri officer urged him to report urgently to the Carabinieri station on Via Catania, claiming that his car had been involved in a robbery. The man, frightened and convinced of the call's veracity, immediately left the house.

Dogs don't know they've become infrastructure. They walk, stop, sniff, search for food. Meanwhile, people around them check emails, send messages, read the news. The connection comes and goes like the dog itself, without promises, without subscriptions, without passwords.

It's technology that breathes, that moves, that doesn't just sit on a pole. And here the first emotional short circuit arises: an animal that is normally seen as a problem—stray, degraded, dangerous—suddenly becomes Useful, central, even necessary.
