Naples is preparing to face an exceptional heat wave that could see temperatures reach 34 degrees Celsius (93.4 degrees Fahrenheit) in the coming days. To address this emergency, the City of Naples, through the Department of Social Policies led by Councilor Luca Fella Trapanese, has developed a package of extraordinary measures aimed specifically at those living on the streets.
Among the main initiatives, the access time to the public Cpa dormitory has been brought forward to the afternoon to offer shelter during the hottest hours of the day. In addition, the shower service has been strengthened: the facilities at the Tanucci institute and at the Sai in vico Volpicelli have been reactivated, where guests will also find a small refreshment corner and a cloakroom service.

The activity of the operations center and the five street units has been intensified with targeted interventions, organized according to the weather bulletins of the regional Civil Protection. The street units, in fact, will distribute drinks and linens more frequently to help those in difficulty in dealing with the high temperatures.
“We are trying to be close to our weakest brothers who live on the streets,” the councilor declared Luca Trapanese in an intervention. “We are constantly working to create new concrete services that can adequately address the problem of homelessness.”
