The Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV) announced the closure of sixty railway lines by RFI and Trenitalia this summer for maintenance work. Of these, four are located in Campania, including the stretch from Naples to Torre Annunziata.
The decision has sparked protests from local associations and committees, concerned about the inconvenience caused to users. In response, theEAV released a note clarifying the need for such interventions. “When work has to be done, unfortunately sometimes a line is closed so as not to put the safety of travellers at risk”, the agency said.
Eav then added that the responsibility for safety falls on them and not on committees or associations. The closure of the lines is considered an indispensable step to guarantee the safety and efficiency of the railway service, despite the temporary inconvenience for commuters.
