“Like all politicians, I am at the disposal of my region, but I will never raise my voice or compete for a position that should come from below.
If this role and this function are requested by the base, it is clear that any politician, including me, would be honored and would consider it a privilege. Otherwise, I will continue peacefully on my way”.
This was stated by Sergio Costa, vice president of the Chamber, responding to rumors about his possible candidacy for the presidency of the Campania Region in next year's elections.
Costa, originally from Napoli, he precised: “For anyone in politics, not just me, being called to serve one’s territory is an honor and a privilege. This applies to every level of politics, and even more so at the national level. It is a question of principle that concerns me too.”
Regarding his political future, Costa added: "Today I am vice president of the Chamber, I have my own personal history as a former minister and general of the Carabinieri. If the territory and local politics deem that I can be useful, I will be there. Otherwise, I will continue with my life".
