Tension in Airola, in the Benevento area, where the municipal councilor Antonietta Bernardo, with responsibilities for Education and Social Services, was the recipient of a serious act of intimidation. An envelope containing two .22 caliber bullets and a letter with threatening phrases was delivered to the institutional representative, causing dismay and concern in the local community.
The episode, which quickly made the rounds in the small Sannio town, is now being examined by the Carabinieri. Investigators are working to trace those responsible for this gesture, which clearly represents an attempt at intimidation. No details have yet emerged on the possible motives or the origin of the threatening letter.
The reaction of solidarity towards the councilor Bernardo was immediate. The mayor Vincenzo Falzarano, on behalf of the entire municipal administration, expressed closeness and support to his colleague, firmly condemning the incident. Words of solidarity also came from the senator Domenico Matera (FdI), who stated: "I firmly condemn any action based on threats and abuse, conduct that represents a serious slap in the face to civil life. I am certain that the investigators will soon shed light on this episode. I invite Councilor Bernardo, as I am sure he will, to continue with even greater passion and tenacity in his institutional commitment."

It is a very bad thing that happens in a small community like Airola. People must feel safe, it is not right that a councilor must suffer intimidation. I hope that the authorities find those responsible soon.
