The Forestry Carabinieri of the Cites Nucleus of Napoli, supported by the military of the Maddaloni Company, concluded an operation that led to the arrest of a married couple of San Felice a Cancello (Caserta).
The two are accused of falsifying the documentation relating to the puppies, known as “Pedigrees”, necessary for the official sale of the animals.In detail, a 41-year-old man was arrested, while his 43-year-old wife was placed under house arrest. The action of the police was the result of an investigation conducted by the Cites Carabinieri Group - Operational Section Against Poaching and Crimes against Animals (SOARDA), the Ravenna Forestry Carabinieri Unit and the Ravenna Flying Squad.
The precautionary custody orders were issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of Ravenna, Andrea Galanti, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, represented by the deputy prosecutor Marilù Gattelli. The couple is accused of transnational criminal association, aimed at traffic illicit trade of numerous puppies, particularly French bulldogs, and fraud in trade.
The animals sold at high prices were presented as purebred, but in reality had no commercial value. Thanks to the coordinated action of the police, it was possible to stop this illegal activity that damaged both the buyers and the animals involved.
