It happened on Sunday evening as he was leaving the mass at the church of San Paolo Apostolo. Vittorio De Luca, 74, known as the long-haired one, tried to approach the parish priest but was stopped by the men of the escort.

He tried to escape and while he was doing so a kitchen knife that he had in his pockets fell out of his trousers. He was stopped and taken to the police station in Afragola.
He was reported for illegal possession of a bladed weapon in a public place. De Luca is the son-in-law of the boss Domenico Ciccarelli, “Caciotta”, currently in prison.

The episode occurred around 20:30 p.m., at the end of the evening mass. Don Patriciello, as usual, was talking to the faithful, greeting them and exchanging a few words. At that moment, De Luca approached the priest, attracting the attention of the escort agents who were observing him discreetly.

A policeman, as reported by the chronicles of Naples, sensing an anomalous behavior, tried to stop De Luca for a preventive check, but the man reacted by dropping the knife on the ground. De Luca then walked away and returned shortly after and was identified by the police.

The knife was seized and De Luca was reported. The specialists of the Scientific Police intervened on the spot and the Prosecutor's Office was informed.

Investigations are ongoing to clarify the facts. Investigators do not exclude that the knife accidentally fell from De Luca's pants or that the man tried to get rid of it to avoid the control of the agents.

The episode has raised concern in the Caivano community, already affected by the presence of organized crime. Father Patriciello, who has been involved in the fight against the Camorra for years, has suffered numerous threats and intimidations.
