The footballers of Taranto they announced a strike for Sunday 2 February 2025 due to the non-payment of salaries: the decision was communicated by the Italian Footballers' Association (AIC) with a joint note with the players of the Apulian team.
The protest was triggered by the failure to meet the promise to pay the September and October salaries by Monday, January 27. The players issued an ultimatum to the club, asking for the arrears to be paid by Friday to avoid a strike. The note also denounces a controversial decision by the club.
“Il Taranto Football Club 1927 has decided to replace striking workers with members of the youth sector, including minor athletes, demonstrating little interest in protecting their health". The team also announced that, in the absence of an immediate solution, the state of unrest will continue and could lead to a new strike already on February 8th.

It seems to me that this situation is very serious and should not happen. The players must be paid on time and the clubs should respect the agreements made. I hope that a quick solution is found for everyone.
I agree with Wfarina, it is unacceptable that footballers do not receive their salaries. It is important that workers' rights are respected, especially in a sector like football where there is a lot of money involved.
