"Naples Central Station," says Paolo Monorchio, president of the Naples Committee of the Red Cross, "with approximately 200.000 visitors a day and 49 million visitors annually, is the main station in Campania and Southern Italy. Providing defibrillators means not being late and means saving people who, without immediate assistance, would not be able to survive. This was the driving force behind the creation of a collaborative project, unique in Italy, between Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and the Naples Red Cross, with the support of Auxede, because cardiac arrest strikes anyone, without warning, regardless of age, gender, race, or social status. And time is precisely the factor we must defeat."

"A project conceived and implemented to ensure real medical facilities available not only to the thousands of people who use Naples Central Station's transport services every day, but also to all employees and users of the shopping mall that has made Naples Central Station a representative rail and commercial hub for the city," he adds. "This is an important and tangible sign of the progressive diffusion and use of defibrillators in all public spaces. The defibrillators chosen for installation are state-of-the-art devices, remotely controlled and capable of autonomous diagnosis."
