The former municipal councilor of Caivano, Carmine Peluso, also appears among the recipients of the arrest warrants issued by the DDA of Naples (additional prosecutor Rosa Volpe) and notified by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of the Castello di Cisterna Group between Caivano, San Marcellino and Aversa.
Article Key Points
The measures issued concern a former municipal councilor, Giovanbattista Alibrico, the politician Armando Falco and the municipal technician Martino Pezzella, together with the municipal manager Vincenzo Zampella.
The other recipients are Raffaele Bervicato (lieutenant of the boss Antonio Angelino), Raffaele Lionelli (who recovered and stored weapons, and managed extortion and welfare for prisoners), Domenico Galdiero (who was also in charge of extortion) and Massimiliano Volpicelli, who was in charge of implementing Angelino's directives.
Alibrico, Falco and Peluso (Italia Viva) were members of the majority of the previous municipal administration of Caivano, which is now governed by an extraordinary commissioner.
Politicians provided the clan with information on public procurement
To the public administrators of Caivano, the Public Prosecutor's Office Napoli and the Carabinieri contest having provided support in various ways to the criminal organisation led by Antonio Angelino (considered a leading figure in the Sautto-Ciccarelli clan of Caivano and head of the Gallo-Angelino group, arrested by the Carabinieri last July in Castel Volturno) with whom they interacted to provide information regarding public works assigned to companies and also to manage their awarding to entrepreneurs close to the clan.
It was the latter, according to what emerged from the investigations, who paid bribes, both to the administrators and to the clan. Zampella, again according to the prosecution hypothesis, in his role as director of the seventh public works sector of the municipality of Caivano, signed the assignment decisions.
