Pathologies of the hepatogastrointestinal system: this was discussed during an important study day at the Santa Rita Nursing Home – Nefrocenter group of atripalda
Gaetano Iaquinto head of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the Santa Rita Nursing Home explains the path in the facility: “Today we have the possibility of prevention, diagnosis and therapy for some pancreatic pathologies, for some digestive tract pathologies, for obesity and diabetes pathologies and therefore the possibility of prevention with these new technologies. Endoscopy and imaging have a very important role”.
Doctor Alberto Larghi gastroenterologist at Gemelli Hospital in Rome specified: “Echoendoscopy for patients at high risk of pancreatic tumors is used precisely for its ability to recognize even small, millimetric lesions. Make a diagnosis and then in the case in which a tumor develops send the patient for surgery”.
Carmelo Lombardi, head of the diagnostics sector of the Santa Rita nursing home explained: “Cystic lesions of the pancreas are a big problem because they contain lesions that have a significant pathological significance. Therefore, it is necessary for the radiologist to be able to recognize them and direct them to the right therapy, which becomes a fundamental factor”.
Giovanni Lombardi, founder of the group, finally explained the philosophy and purpose of this innovative path of health research: “Our added value was to focus on research and therefore exploit all the professional experiences of the group and the Atriplada structure to create a research hub especially on what is our core business, namely the study of metabolic diseases such as diabetes and problems related to gastroenterology, nephrology and dialysis”.
