The seismic swarm at Campi Flegrei does not stop. Another night of tremors has kept the population on alert, with four events of magnitude greater than 2 and the strongest, of 3.1, recorded at 03:22. The epicenter was located between Solfatara and the Pisciarelli area, with a hypocenter at a depth of about two kilometers.
The latest shock was recorded at 6,26am and had a magnitude of 1.1.
Fear has pushed dozens of residents of Pozzuoli to sleep outside their homes: many spent the night in their cars or at the PalaTrincone in Monteruscello, the sports hall used as a first reception center, where about 35 people have taken refuge. The most felt tremors occurred at 21:23, 01:06, 01:28 and then the two aftershocks at 03:22.
Over the past three days, seismographs from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) have recorded over 400 seismic events in the Phlegraean area. As a precaution, schools in Pozzuoli will remain closed today.
Meanwhile, the head of Civil Protection, Fabio Ciciliano, will be in Monterusciello today at 18:30 pm for an information meeting with the citizens, together with the prefect of Naples Michele Di Bari, to the director of the regional Civil Protection Italo Giulivo, to the director of the Vesuvius Observatory Mauro DiVito and to the director of the Volcanoes DepartmentINGV Francesca Bianco. Also present were the mayors of Pozzuoli, Bacoli and Naples.
According to the data of theVesuvius Observatory, the 3.9 magnitude shock recorded at 00:19 between Saturday and Sunday caused significant ground shaking. The station Pisciarelli It detected an acceleration of 0.5 g, or half of the Earth's gravitational force, a sign of particularly intense seismic activity.
According to the scientific journal The World of Earthquakes: " This is an important value that confirms for the umpteenth time how little the magnitude of an event matters, especially when we talk about the Campi Flegrei, where the tremors are very superficial. It is useless to cry out about the stupid conspiracy of the "lowered magnitude", the shaking that we feel on the surface depends on a myriad of different factors, including the epicenter, the hypocenter, the geological composition of the soil and the type of building in which one is located during the tremor.

And an interesting article about the earthquake problem in Campi Flegrei, but I don't understand why schools have to be closed. Of course it is better to be cautious, but it is also true that life must go on. People need to work and study, and prolonged closures can have negative consequences.
The situation of the earthquake at Campi Flegrei is very complicated. People must be careful and prepared, especially those who live in these risk areas. We hope that the authorities will do everything possible to ensure safety.
I also think it is important to follow the advice of the civil protection. The closed schools are a good decision, because the safety of the students is fundamental in these times of fear and uncertainty.
