NAPLES – The 44-year-old Neapolitan with a criminal record – including specific ones – accused of stealing a car and partially running over two girls while fleeing was identified and stopped the day after the robbery.
The episode took place on Sunday afternoon in via Nevio, in the neighbourhood Posillipo. According to the reconstruction by the agents of the Posillipo Police Station, two girls had surprised the man while he was breaking into the car of a relative of theirs parked on the street.
While trying to block the criminal's escape, the two were hit by the vehicle, which the man used to escape.
On Monday morning, thanks to the detailed descriptions provided by witnesses and the images from the video surveillance systems in the area, the police were able to track down the vehicle in Via Caravaggio. The car, left with the door open, was located next to the man, perfectly corresponding to the features indicated.
At the sight of the officers, the 44-year-old attempted to flee on foot, but was immediately stopped and detained. The measure was validated by the Judicial Authority.
