Sinner takes part in 'An Ace for Research' in support of cancer research

Jannik Sinner and the charity initiative in Turin

Arriving in Turin as the world number one, Jannik Sinner visited the Istituto Di Candiolo-IRCCS for the second consecutive year. The athlete is the protagonist of an important charity initiative, "An Ace for Research", supported by Intesa Sanpaolo, Host partner of the Nitto ATP Finals, and by the Piedmont Foundation for Cancer Research.

The project foresees that Intesa Sanpaolo will donate 100 euros for each ace scored by the champions during the tournament, increased to 1.000 euros for those scored in the final, up to a maximum ceiling of 100.000 euros. These funds will go to support oncology research, increasing the resources available to fight cancer.

Enhanced Research with the "Blue Microscope"

During his visit, Sinner also witnessed the delivery of the “Blue Microscope,” an innovative laser scanning instrument that revolutionizes cancer diagnosis. This device was purchased thanks to the funds raised in the previous edition of the initiative, representing a significant step forward in tumor diagnosis.

Construction of the new Biobank

This year the campaign's goal is even more ambitious. The funds raised will be used to lay the first stone of the new Biobank of the Candiolo Institute-IRCCS. The structure, of about 3.000 square meters, will contain biological samples and the related information of cancer patients. Thanks to this Biobank, it will be possible to develop large-scale studies, aimed at obtaining more preventive and precise diagnoses and therapies. This could significantly increase the chances of success, even against the most aggressive tumors.

Intesa Sanpaolo's vision

Stefano Barrese, Head of the Banca dei Territori Division of Intesa Sanpaolo, stressed the importance of supporting research, describing it as a means of doing good for a large number of people. “In recent years, it has been possible to bring benefits in terms of tools and projects that can make an essential contribution in the fight against cancer,” Barrese said.
