The protagonists of the story are a pair of computer scientists from Caserta, reported at large on charges of conspiracy to commit fraud.
According to the investigators' reconstruction, the two created a "mirror" site of a real online platform, specialized in the sale of spare parts for cars. Using this deceptive replica, they lured unsuspecting buyers, inducing them to pay sums of money for products that were never delivered. The payments, made in advance, were credited to prepaid cards registered to one of the two scammers.
The investigations, which began after numerous complaints presented by the victims, allowed the military to reconstruct the entire fraudulent activity. Through targeted inspections, analysis of video surveillance systems at post offices in various provinces of Campania and photographic recognition, the complex network of illicit operations emerged.

The Carabinieri investigations are continuing to verify whether there are other victims and to investigate any further illicit activities conducted by the couple.
