In a shocking episode of domestic violence, a man was arrested by the Carabinieri in the Pianura neighborhood of Napoli. In front of school daughter's childhood, a 43-year-old personal trainer attacked his ex-wife, punching her and headbutting her, leaving her on the ground in front of numerous witnesses.
The dramatic scene unfolded yesterday morning, when the man, presumably driven by jealousy, confronted his ex-wife, a 33-year-old woman. After the attack, the man walked away, while those present rushed to help the victim. The woman, still in shock and with a bloody face, immediately went to the Carabinieri station in Pianura to report the incident.
The military, with great professionalism and empathy, collected the woman's testimony, discovering a series of episodes of psychological abuse and stalking that began last December. The victim revealed that she had never reported her ex-husband, mistakenly hoping that this would be in the best interest of their daughter.
Under the direction of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, vulnerable groups section, the investigations were launched urgently. The Carabinieri acquired and analyzed the images from the video surveillance systems, which captured the entire attack. Shortly after, the 43-year-old was tracked down and arrested in deferred flagrante delicto.
The woman was taken to San Paolo Hospital, where she was released with a 20-day prognosis. Her injuries include multiple bruises on various parts of her body and post-traumatic stress syndrome. The attacker is currently in prison, awaiting trial, and will have to answer to charges of mistreatment and bodily harm.
