A tragedy occurred at the Battipaglia train station, where a 19-year-old was fatally struck by a passing train.

The dramatic circumstance led to the immediate activation of the police, interrupting rail traffic to allow rescue and investigation operations.
The officers of the Battipaglia public safety station intervened at the scene of the incident, led by vice-commissioner Giuseppe Fedele, together with the medical personnel of 118 and the firefighters of the Eboli detachment.
Initial analyses carried out at the scene of the tragedy indicate that the young man threw himself onto the tracks as the train approached, an act that was confirmed as suicide. Medical personnel and law enforcement confirmed his death on the spot.

It is very sad that a young man of only nineteen years old has decided to do such a dramatic thing, we hope that the family can find a way to overcome this pain which is immense and difficult to face.
