La Municipal Council has given the green light to the project financing proposal which includes the complete restyling of the Cemetery di Caserta.
The approved resolution represents an implementation and improvement of the project originally proposed in 2019 and contains many other interventions that will make the structure more functional with respect to the needs of citizens.
The new proposal includes an initial investment of approximately 9,5 million euros and has taken on board the indications of the Councilor for Public Works, Massimiliano Marzo, who in May 2022 requested a series of activities to be added to the original project, considered lacking and not fully responsive to the public interest.
Many interventions are planned. First of all, there will be the construction of a new water and sewer system, an electrical system, street furniture and green works. Then, there will also be space for the resurfacing of the avenues, the placement of flower kiosks.
A building with a crematorium plant equipped with two lines will be built, and the paths of the crematorium itself will be paved.
As regards the numerous additions and improvements of the new project, they concern, among other things, the creation of an automated irrigation system for all the greenery of the Cemetery, the redevelopment of all the road axes of the structure through the resurfacing of the road surfaces and kerbs, the creation of connections to the water network for all the chapels, the waterproofing of the roofs of the chapels, the main entrance and the farewell room, the development of a piped music system that serves the entire area of the Cemetery.
. In the main chapel, then, the obsolete fixtures will be replaced, while for the entire structure a surveillance service will be set up, which includes video surveillance with a direct and remote connection to the Municipal Police command. Finally, the establishment of an internal electric transport service is also planned, reserved for disabled people and the elderly.
“This project – explained the Mayor of Caserta, Carlo Marino – represents a turning point for the Cemetery of our city, which will experience a real transformation, becoming a modern structure, which will no longer experience the difficulties that have been recorded in recent years. As an Administration, we have received the requests of the many citizens who have long been reporting the critical conditions of the Cemetery, laying the foundations for a massive and high-impact intervention”.
“With the approval of this new project financing – added the Councilor for Public Works, Massimiliano Marzo – we are laying the foundations for overcoming all the difficulties that have arisen up to this point.
In 2022, a few months after taking office and after numerous inspections, I pointed out the need to carry out further interventions and additions to the previous project, in order to accommodate the requests coming from the citizens. A 'battle' that lasted almost two years, which in the end proved the Municipal Administration that I am proud to represent right, thus obtaining a project that responds to the real needs of the citizens.
This new proposal approved by the Board provides for a real revolution of the Cemetery. We intervene on the water and sewer systems, on the redevelopment of the buildings, on the chapel, we build a crematorium and we take care of the resurfacing of all the avenues of the structure and the redevelopment of the green areas.
This is an intervention of epochal significance, which will give the city of Caserta a modern cemetery equipped with the services requested by citizens".
