The Civil Protection of the Region Campania has issued a Yellow level weather alert warning for rains and thunderstorms valid from 6am tomorrow morning, Thursday 18th January, to 6am the day after tomorrow, Friday 19th January. Sudden rainfall is expected, including showers or thunderstorms.
The phenomena could be sudden, intense and rapidly evolving. Lightning, hail and gusts of wind are also possible. The alert concerns the entire Campania with the exception of zones 4 (Alta Irpinia and Sannio) and 7 (Tanagro). Attention, recommends the Civil Protection, must be paid to the hydrogeological risk: among the main consequences of the impact of precipitation on the ground are flooding, rising water levels of watercourses, water flow on roads, runoff with transport of material, falling rocks and landslides.
Considering the possible hail and the presence of gusts of wind, maximum attention is recommended to ensure the correct maintenance of public green spaces as well as mobile and temporary structures. Municipalities are reminded to activate the Municipal Operations Centers and to implement all measures to prevent, counter and mitigate the expected phenomena, in line with the respective municipal civil protection plans.
