“It will be like giving birth at home”. The head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the “Moscati” in Avellino, Elisiario Struzziero, presents the new “delivery block” built entirely from scratch in a wing of the Avellino hospital, inaugurated this morning by the president of the Campania region, Vincenzo De Luca. Five rooms for labor, delivery and postpartum, in intimate settings, to which are also added the recovery room, the control room for nursing staff and a herbal tea room for patients.
“There is a neonatal island in every room,” Struzziero emphasizes, “in which particular attention has been paid to humanization. We are certain that this effort will be appreciated by all users.” There are 1.200 births recorded at the “Moscati,” only 8,9% by caesarean section. “Numbers, compared to the national average that exceeds 45 percent,” President De Luca then emphasized, “that confirm the level of excellence of this facility in Campania and in the rest of Italy.”
