Napoli striker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia posted his thoughts on the incident on his Instagram profile following the clashes in Georgia that followed the government's decision to postpone negotiations for EU membership.
“I am following the current events in our country and I want to express my opinion and position as a citizen. The desire and will of the Georgian people is to follow the European path, this is our historical choice, the only correct choice, and it is not allowed to deviate from this path. This country belongs to the people and no one is above the will of the people.”
“My country is suffering, my people are suffering, it is painful and emotional to watch the videos that are circulating,” he added, calling for “stop the violence.”
