The anniversary of Raffaele Viviani's birth will be celebrated with a special event on January 10th at 20:30 PM at the Teatro Karol in Castellammare di Stabia. This will feature "PLAY VIVIANI," a production by the Teatro di Napoli – Teatro Nazionale starring Tonino Taiuti. After captivating audiences with Eduardo De Filippo's "Gennariniello" at the Teatro San Ferdinando, Taiuti pays tribute to the great playwright from Castellammare di Stabia, highlighting the unique poetry Viviani imbues his characters with.
### A Choir for Solo Voice
In describing his approach, Taiuti states that Viviani's theatre manifests itself as a "polyphonic novel", transforming in his show into a "single voice chorus". The characters, described as emerging souls in a circus arena, compose a performance similar to Viviani's "Spoon River". The narrative follows a non-linear path, alternating tragic and comic moments to form a hilarotragedy that is the core of the work.
### Events and Installations
The commemoration of Viviani continues with the initiative NEL SEGNO DI VIVIANI, curated by Casa del Contemporaneo. Among the scheduled events, Fiorenza Calogero will perform on February 15 with the concert “Vico Viviani”, with the musical direction of Marcello Vitale. On March 1 it will be the turn of “Cinematografo Viviani”, an evening of original soundtracks for short films based on Viviani's texts. In April, Stefano and Mario Martone will present the documentary “Viviani via” and in May there will be a dramaturgy and acting workshop entitled VIVIANI E LA GUERRA. In addition, during the opening hours of the box office, there will be a free artistic installation entitled “O vico d''e guagliune”, curated by the Associazione Stabiese dell'Arte e del Presepe with the scenography of Antonio De Martino, inspired by the historic setting of Largo Pace and via Santa Caterina.
Tickets for “PLAY VIVIANI” are available at €12, with discounts at €10. Special price 5 ENTRY CARDS and a CARD dedicated to UNDER 25s are also available. Reading about the event dedicated to Raffaele Viviani, it seems very interesting to me. Let's hope that Taiuti's interpretation lives up to expectations. The other activities in the program also seem promising, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to go.
