CiAV – Cinema ad Alta Voce Fest 2025 will take place in Naples from March 10 to 14, focusing on cultural accessibility for people with visual impairments. The event is inspired by the “Stati generali del cinema accessibile” of last December, promoting a dialogue between sighted and blind audiences.
Events and Activities
The festival will offer various activities, including morning workshops for students from schools and academies. The screenings and performances will be free and will be held at the Cinema Modernissimo. A key event will be the film-walk on March 13 with mapping and audio-narration of the film “Gatta Cenerentola” by Alessandro Rak. The program will also include visual-tactile workshops on audio description and artificial intelligence in cinema.
Inclusion and Participation
Film works will be accessible via audio descriptions, usable with the MovieReading app or delivered in real time. Subtitles will help make the festival accessible to a wide audience. For podcasts and live audio dramas, masks will be available for a blindfolded experience.Collaborations and Guests
Promoted by the Municipality of Naples and organized by the Allelammie association, the CiAV Fest 2025 involves entities such as the Italian Union of the Blind and Partially Sighted and the Film Commission Regione Campania. Among the participating artists will be Peppe Barra and Maura Delpero, along with other figures from the entertainment world. The event aims to rethink the audiovisual system, focusing on sustainability and inclusion.Article published on March 1, 2025 - 13pm
The event seems very interesting and important for the inclusion of people with visual impairments, but I don't really understand how the audio description thing works and if there are other options for people who can't follow. I hope that's clear.
