Naples – A 49-year-old with a criminal record, including specific ones, was arrested yesterday afternoon by the State Police in the Ponticelli neighborhood on charges of illicit possession of narcotics.
The operation, conducted by the agents of the Ponticelli Police Station, led to the seizure of a significant quantity of hashish and the discovery of cash, presumably the result of the illicit activity.
The episode occurred during a territorial control service. The officers, passing through via Crisconio, noticed an unusual coming and going of people entering and exiting the courtyard of a building.
Suspicious, they decided to investigate further. Inside the courtyard, they spotted a man who, with a suspicious attitude, was hanging around near a ground floor apartment.
The subsequent check confirmed the agents' suspicions. In the house, in fact, 14 blocks of hashish were found for a total weight of about 1,5 kg, in addition to 43 packages of the same substance weighing about 200 grams.
The findings also included a knife with a blade soaked in a narcotic substance and 850 euros in cash, divided into banknotes of different denominations, believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity.
The man, already known to the police for previous criminal convictions, was then arrested and taken to prison. The operation confirms the commitment of the Police of the State in the fight against drug trafficking, a phenomenon that continues to represent a plague for the Neapolitan territory.
Now, the suspect will have to answer to the charges before the justice system, while the investigations continue to ascertain any links with other criminal activities.

It is a very serious fact what happened in Ponticelli. The presence of narcotics in a neighborhood is worrying. I hope that the authorities continue to do more frequent checks to prevent situations like this.
The article concerns an arrest of a man with a criminal record. It is important that the police continue to carry out checks and seize drugs, even if the situation seems complicated and not always easy to manage in the neighborhood.
