An open-air landfill was discovered yesterday morning in the Pagliano area, in the municipality of Lettere. The area, located in a peripheral area of the city, was identified by the Municipal Police and the Carabinieri of the local station, who found a large quantity of abandoned waste.
The seized materials include construction waste, including concrete pieces and slabs, and other waste classified as special, including numerous plastic objects.
The entire area was immediately seized, while investigations are underway to identify those responsible for the serious environmental damage. In the meantime, the owners of the land have been warned to proceed with the remediation of the area, as required by an order signed by the mayor Anna Amendola.
In a post published on social media, the mayor underlined the centrality of environmental protection for the municipal administration: “Protecting the environment is everyone’s duty. The future of our children and our country is at stake.”
