CASERTA – An illegal trap for capturing wild boars was discovered in the Ercole district of Caserta: the Carabinieri of the Forestry Department, together with the veterinarians of the ASL, intervened in a fenced agricultural land, where they found an active structure for trapping wild fauna.
The trap, equipped with a snap-open door and positioned near an opening in the fence, contained food to attract wild boars. A few meters away, the officers identified another steel cage, inside which was a female wild boar, probably used as bait to attract other animals.
The owner of the land was reported at large for aggravated hunting theft, illegal possession of wild fauna and use of traps prohibited for hunting ungulates. The wild boar was taken in by the veterinarians of the ASL of Caserta, which will proceed according to the provisions of Ordinance No. 5 of 2024 of the Extraordinary Commissioner for African Swine Fever.
