Caianello – A 35-year-old of Albanian origin was hiding cocaine among the hazelnut trees and was arrested by the Carabinieri on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.
The man, unemployed, had been under observation for days by the military of the Vairano Scalo Station, who were following his movements as part of an info-operational investigation. Every morning, the suspect left Vairano Patenora aboard a car driven by an accomplice and headed towards a hazelnut grove in Caianello, where he spent the entire day.
The operation began in via Fellini, in Vairano Patenora, when the Carabinieri stopped a rental Volkswagen Passat, with the 35-year-old and a 24-year-old, also Albanian, on board. During the search, the officers found 1.710 euros in cash on the suspect, a sum of money for which he was unable to explain the source.
The checks were then extended to the hazelnut grove, where the man had been sighted several times. Here, thanks to the indications of the 35-year-old himself, the soldiers found a glass jar hidden in the trunk of a tree: inside, 56 doses of cocaine for a total weight of 24,90 grams.
The man was arrested and taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison. The 24-year-old who accompanied him was reported at large for complicity in the crime.
