The Guardia di Finanza of the Provincial Command of Benevento conducted a checkpoint operation at a business in San Giorgio del Sannio run by ethnic Chinese personnel. During the inspection, over 30.000 pieces of gadgets, school supplies and children's stationery that did not comply with safety standards were discovered and seized.
The products, with a commercial value of approximately 3.000 euros, lacked the necessary safety information, the CE mark and the indications in Italian, putting the health and safety of consumers at risk. Failure to comply with health and safety regulations by the commercial activity led to the seizure of the products and the application of administrative sanctions of up to 10.000 euros to the owner of the activity.
This operation aims to combat the marketing of counterfeit and unsafe products, ensuring that consumers are aware of the quality and safety of the goods they purchase. Importing goods from non-EU countries without the necessary safety controls not only damages the national economy and encourages unfair competition, but also puts the environment and consumer health at risk. It is essential that products marketed on European soil comply with rigorous safety and health standards to protect consumers, especially the most vulnerable, such as children.
