Last Tuesday, on the Naples ring road, an accident involved a woman driving a car, who was hit by a truck whose driver fled without providing assistance. The incident occurred inside the “Monte Sant'Angelo” tunnel, where officers from the Fuorigrotta Highway Police Subsection, during the usual checks, found the woman injured following the lateral impact.
The investigations, conducted by the Highway Police officers, were supported by surveillance images of the ring road of Napoli SpA and a nearby service area, where the driver of the truck had stopped to check the damage suffered by his vehicle.
Through these videos and subsequent technical checks, investigators were able to trace the identity of the driver, a 34-year-old resident of Naples. The truck had damage to the front-right part, consistent with the accident. The man was reported for injuries, hit-and-run and failure to provide assistance and fined for speeding and illegal overtaking.
