The Campania Region's Environmental Assessment Office has announced its rejection of Fonderie Pisano's application for the Regional Authorization Provision (PUAR), required for their project in the Buccino industrial zone.
The decision comes after the Council of State accepted the appeal of the Municipality of Buccino, which has always opposed the relocation of the plant from Fratte to its area, traditionally devoted to agri-food.
Fonderie Pisano, a company based in Salerno, had submitted a request for Puar and Environmental Impact Assessment in order to begin construction of the foundry. However, according to the Regional Office, the counter-arguments provided by the company were not considered sufficient, thus leading to the definitive archiving of the ongoing procedure.
Despite this, Fonderie Pisano has the opportunity to reapply for the project in the future. The issue of relocation and the impact on the environment and local economy continues to be a point of debate among the parties involved.
