The Environmental Assessment Office of the Campania Region has communicated the rejection of the request presented by Fonderie Pisano for the release of the Single Regional Authorization Provision (Puar), necessary for their project in the industrial area of Buccino.
The decision comes after the Council of State accepted the appeal of the Municipality of Buccino, which has always opposed the relocation of the plant from Fratte to its area, traditionally devoted to agri-food.
Fonderie Pisano, a company based in Salerno, had submitted a request for Puar and Environmental Impact Assessment in order to begin construction of the foundry. However, according to the Regional Office, the counter-arguments provided by the company were not considered sufficient, thus leading to the definitive archiving of the ongoing procedure.
Despite this, Fonderie Pisano has the opportunity to reapply for the project in the future. The issue of relocation and the impact on the environment and local economy continues to be a point of debate among the parties involved.
