Two people died yesterday evening in Rimini following a large-scale fire that broke out around 19 p.m. in a three-story Acer building on Via Giuliano da Rimini, in the area of the former Giulio Cesare barracks. The flames, which started on the ground floor, quickly invaded the stairwell, making the building impassable.
The victims are the Ferdinando Autiero spouses, 55 years old, of Neapolitan origins with walking problems and his wife Alis Eftenaru, 42, of Romanian origin. The two were staying in an apartment on the second floor of a public housing building near the centre of Rimini.
Several people, especially elderly people, reported symptoms of poisoning and were evacuated from the firefighters. In total, 43 residents were forced to leave their homes. Four ambulances, two medical cars, state and local police, and 115 vehicles intervened on the scene.
Rescue operations continued until late evening, while the magistrate on duty arrived on site shortly after 21 pm. The causes of the fire are still unclear.

This is a very tragic situation in Rimini, we cannot think that people lose their lives in such a devastating fire. I hope that the investigations clarify the causes and that measures are taken to prevent future similar accidents.
