The Milan Court sentenced Artem Tkachuk, 25, an Italian-Ukrainian actor known for playing "Pino o' pazzo" in the television series Mare Fuori, to one year in prison. Judge Amelia Managò pronounced the sentence at the end of a summary trial.

Along with the actor, three other young people, aged 18, 22 and 24, were also sentenced for involvement in the events that occurred on the night between May 20 and 21 in Rho, in the Milanese hinterland.

The facts: four cars damaged

According to the prosecution's reconstruction, the four allegedly kicked several cars parked on Via Molino Prepositurale, damaging their rearview mirrors and bumpers. Police intervention led to the actor and the other three young men being arrested red-handed.

The arrest was later validated, but without the application of precautionary measures.

Suspended sentence if they pay damages

The judge granted the defendants a suspended sentence and the benefit of not having the conviction listed in their criminal records. Both benefits, however, remain conditional on compensation for damages caused to the injured parties within six months.

The parallel accusations and the defense line

In addition to the aggravated damage charge, Artem Tkachuk is under investigation in a separate case on charges of threatening a public official. According to the documents, when officers arrived, he allegedly made intimidating remarks, including "I'll beat you up now" and "I'll buy you all."

During the hearing to validate his arrest, the actor apologized for his behavior.

During the trial, the defense, represented by attorneys Maria Grazia Padula and Alessia Pontenani, requested the defendants' acquittal. The prosecutor, however, requested eight-month prison sentences for each.

Specifically, the defense of two of the young men argued that their clients had only met Tkachuk that evening, a circumstance documented by a selfie taken with the actor. Furthermore, the lawyers maintain that there is insufficient evidence to attribute the damage to the four, pointing out that the arrest occurred on a different street from the one where the vandalized cars were parked.
