The woman urged anyone who may have seen or heard anything to cooperate with law enforcement to help identify the perpetrators of the crime and clarify the motive.
Shortly afterward, she also shared some photographs of herself and her brother, accompanying them with a heartfelt message: "These are just a tiny fraction of the snapshots of our life together. Only those who know us know what I meant to you, and you meant to me. You will always be with me, Luca, don't abandon me."

The mystery of the appointment: that road was not part of his habits

Among the aspects investigators are focusing on is the journalist's presence in an area that, according to what his sister told the police, was not usually frequented by the victim.
Indeed, on Saturday evening, Esposito was supposed to reach Agropoli, where the family (the Espositos are orphans of both parents) has a home they use during the summer. This detail fuels the investigative hypothesis that the 53-year-old may have changed his plans to meet someone.

At the moment, this is only one of the leads being examined by investigators, who are trying to establish whether Esposito had arranged a meeting in the hours before the crime and with whom.

Smartphone under examination to reconstruct the last hours

Technical investigations into the victim's cell phone will be crucial in this regard.
Investigators will analyze calls, messages, chats, any appointments in the journalist's diary, and geolocation data to verify the journalist's last contacts and determine whether anyone lured him to the location where he was later murdered.

The goal is to reconstruct Esposito's movements minute by minute and identify any people he may have had contact with in the hours immediately preceding the murder.

Cameras search for the killer

At the same time, work continues on the footage from municipal video surveillance cameras and private systems installed in the Cioffi area.

The images could prove crucial in identifying the route taken by the victim's car, verifying whether he was in the company of anyone, or whether other vehicles entered or left the area at the same time.

Investigators are acquiring and comparing all available recordings in the hope of isolating elements useful for identifying the killer or any possible accomplices.

The dramatic discovery was made by firefighters, who responded to a report of a brush fire. Once on site, they found the journalist's charred body.

Not far away, along the provincial road that leads to the coast, Esposito's white Lancia Y was parked, found in front of the gate of a farm and a short distance from the scene of the crime.

The investigation has been entrusted to the Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of the Eboli Company, led by Captain Serafino Palumbo, together with the Investigative Section of the Salerno Provincial Command.

A bullet casing and the hypothesis of execution

During the investigation, a shell casing was also found, which strengthens the hypothesis that the journalist was killed by a gunshot before his body was set on fire, probably in an attempt to cover his tracks.

Salerno Public Prosecutor's Office Magistrate Alessandro Di Vico and medical examiner Gabriele Casaburi also attended the scene and performed an external examination of the body. An autopsy is expected in the coming days, which will clarify the exact cause of death and provide additional information useful to the investigation.

For now, the Carabinieri are maintaining the utmost secrecy and are not ruling out any leads: analysis of the camera images, smartphone data, and autopsy results could lead to a breakthrough in identifying the motive and bringing the perpetrators of this brutal murder to justice.
