It's now official: the 38th America's Cup has its schedule. Race Director Iain Murray has published the official conditions governing the Louis Vuitton Cup Challenger Selection Series and the subsequent America's Cup challenge, confirming Naples as the venue for one of the world's most prestigious sporting events.

For almost two months, between May and July 2027, the Gulf of Naples will host the regattas that will choose the challenger of Emirates Team New Zealand, the holder of the trophy, before the final match that will award the oldest international sailing competition.

It starts on May 22nd with an absolute premiere

The inaugural event is scheduled for Saturday, May 22, 2027, when three fleet races will take place, followed by the conclusion of the first phase on Sunday, May 23.
It will be a moment destined to go down in America's Cup history: for the first time in its 175-year history, all the AC75 yachts will compete simultaneously on the same race course in a “fleet race” format, offering a spectacle never seen before.

The long selection of challengers

The traditional “match race” phase will begin on May 26th, with the one-on-one challenges that will characterize the Louis Vuitton Cup.
The first round robin will feature 21 races spread across three days, from May 26th to 28th. The second round robin will follow, from May 29th to 31st, with another 21 races.
After a week-long break, the competition will resume from June 9th to 11th with the third and final round robin, which will determine the final challenger rankings.
The defender, Emirates Team New Zealand, will also participate in the initial trials until the end of the third round robin, but its results will not count towards the rankings.

Repêchage and semi-finals

Once the group stage is concluded, the top three boats will advance directly to the semi-finals.
The other three teams will have one last chance through the repêchage, scheduled for June 12th and 13th, which will award the last available spot among the top four.

The semi-finals will take place from June 16th to 20th, with a possible reserve day on the 21st: up to 13 races will be held, and the first crews to secure seven victories will advance to the final.

The Louis Vuitton Cup Final and the Challenge for the America's Cup

The Louis Vuitton Cup final will kick off on the weekend of June 26-27 and, if all the races are held, could conclude on July 3 or 4.

Once the challenger selection has been completed, the countdown will begin to the most eagerly awaited event: the Louis Vuitton 38th America's Cup Match, which will begin on the weekend of July 10-11, 2027.

Once again, the trophy will be awarded to the first team to achieve seven victories. The calendar includes Monday, July 19th as the final day, with the possibility of additional rescheduling in case of bad weather.

Naples is ready to experience a historic event.

With the official announcement of the calendar, the journey towards Naples hosting the first-ever America's Cup begins. For over fifty days, the Gulf will become the stage for world sailing, attracting thousands of fans, international teams, and tourists, in an event destined to have an unprecedented sporting, economic, and image impact on the city.
